Ah the magic of the loon, nothing can ever quite compare.
While living in Alaska my wife and I spent many days canoeing the small lakes and rivers. This allowed us the chance to observe these beautiful birds in their natural surroundings. To observe a mother and baby swimming by without alarm is truly a gift. I carved this loon and baby a few years ago after one of our outings. I never really felt this piece to be complete until recently. I added the water and decided to have it cast in bronze. It will be patinaed
black with the markings done in polychrome, some iridescence will also be added on the head. I will rub out the high lights on the water, it should be a very sharp piece of artwork. Other patina's
may be possible on request.
